I'm fond of driving and circling the valley floor in search of an exciting area to stop and explore for a unique and great landscape or wildlife shot while frequently visiting Yosemite. But this time I couldn't resist a very early hike with my camera and gear along the Merced River on this very early chilly morning . I was pleasantly and peacefully surprised by this view. This final image consists of 3 different exposures blended in HDR Photomatix. I then used Lightroom 5.5 to process it into Black and White focusing on the different tonal ranges. I brightened the sky and water ever so slightly. I was particularly moved by the mid-tones within the trees at the bottom of Cathedral Rocks and the calming river reflections.
