This image was taken on October 1, 2013, the day the government shut down the forest...and potties. We were one of the last vehicles parked at 7am that morning and joined a large group of photographers waiting for the light. The best light arrived shortly before 10am (you can sleep in during the fall). We had no sooner finished our photos when we were asked to leave by a park ranger. We slowly packed up our gear and headed down the road to the closed gate passing many hikers and bikers who went around the gate to enjoy the spectacular 70 degree day. We could still hear them grumbling back in Aspen.
