The grasslands come alive around Devil's Tower in the fall. This image was taken from the Joyner Ridge Trail far from the crowds and buses near the visitor's center. We did hike the trail around the monument and visit the prairie dog town but found this area shortly before sunset. After taking our photos we absorbed the peace and spirituality of Devil's Tower in silence as we were all alone. It's no wonder the American Indians consider this monument sacred. If you look closely you can see the vultures and eagles that surround the monument.
