I had planned to photograph the golden light of the setting sun on the snow tipped White Mountains. As I made a few exposures, something was amiss with my compositions. At that stage I could not identify the missing element, but I decided to return another day hoping for some inspiration to compose the image that I'd hoped for. Just as I was packing up, I saw a lone horse rider in the distance. Call it serendipity, but this rider was the missing element in my earlier composition. This rider provided both a human element and gave a sense of scale to the photograph. I rushed back to compose the image and waited until the rider came right under the mountains.
