Nikon’s newest 1-series camera can use all 1-series lenses, but when you use the new 1 NIKKOR AW 11-27mm ƒ/3.5-5.6 or 1 NIKKOR AW 10mm ƒ/2.8 lenses, you can take the Nikon 1 AW1 camera under water to depths of 49 feet. Yes, this tiny new camera goes well beyond "splashproof." It’s also shockproof (tested to drops of 6.6 feet) and freezeproof (you can use it in temperatures as low as 14° F). The AW1 also has a built-in GPS to geotag images, an altimeter, depth gauge and an electronic compass, as well as a virtual horizon indicator.
The AW1 features a 14.2-megapixel CX-format CMOS sensor and Nikon’s EXPEED 3A image-processing engine. Also onboard is Nikon’s quick, responsive Advanced Hybrid AF system with 135 AF areas, 73 of which support phase-detection AF that can lock onto the action in approximately 80ms. The AW1 can shoot full-res images at 15 fps with AF, and up to 60 fps with focus locked. Video capabilities include 1080p Full HD with Advanced Movie Mode, which allows you to shoot Full HD video and high-resolution stills simultaneously.
STANDOUT FEATURE: The world’s first waterproof interchangeable-lens camera.
