Just around any bend of the blue alleys of Chefchaouen (chef-sha-wen) is a sea of bustling tourists, instagram shooters and honeymooners, and if they are not there now, just wait five minutes. Known as the "blue pearl of Morocco," Chefchaouen is a city situated in the northwest mountains, and truly is an unusual town amongst its country’s surroundings. With more European influence in the northern part of the country, the town layout lends itself more to mediterranean europe than arabian africa, and its blue color unique-in-its-own. Its insta-fame is young, and with this newfound fame comes an abundant patience from its inhabitants when people jump in front of their residences or businesses to take selfies. I’m sure that will most likely wear thin as the years go by. For the time being however, the town is happy to have visitors, and the locals don't seem jaded or bored just yet, except for maybe these three young girls.
