One Room School House

This image is of the inside of the Crammer School in Fremont County, Colorado. The school was originally built in 1910 but burned down in 1934 and was rebuilt using cinder blocks. It was abandoned many years ago and the elements have started to take a toll on the building over the years. One room school houses are a wonderful piece of history. My main exposure to them growing up was mostly through the literary side. When I was young my mother read all the Little House on the Prairie books to me and as she read the pages in my mind I created the world including the one room school house Laura Ingles went to. Anne of Green Gables was another series of books I enjoyed and many of the scenes also took place in a one room school house.
