- Description: A towering hardwood overlooking the remains of a home site from the abandoned Lost Cove community.
- Notes: I used a Sepia Highlight filter for enhancement on a black and white image.
- Brief Directions: Lost Cove is physically isolated. The cove lies at the edge of Mitchell County and Yancey County, North Carolina, and Unicoi County, Tennessee. There have never been real roads into the cove. It has been accessible only by a steep foot trail down Flat Top Mountain and in later years by the railroad that runs along the Nolichucky River.
