Prairie burns typically occur from the first week of April to about April 15th. Temperatures vary widely from year to year, from near freezing, to near 90 degrees. Average high temps are in the lower 60 degree range. The prairie burns are dependant on the weather. Too windy, wet, or dry, and farmers will postpone burning until better conditions prevail.
