- State/Province/Region: California

- Description: Any time of year is a great time to photograph Mono Lake. I took a 5 hour drive one way to shoot the full moon over Mono. I was a little disappointed as it didn't even show itself until nearly 10pm. It was very light out however and that made for other interesting shots. This frame was taken at about 11:30 pm.. Facing west, away from the moon, the tufas glowed and the stars were bright. I did paint the tufas a little as well with a light. I used ISO 800 for 30 seconds. I wish I had set the ISO to 1600, live and learn. Getting it sharp was not easy. I used my light to light the largest tufa and focused.
