Taken in mid January shortly after a heavy snow, I stood at dawn in the meadow adjacent to the Ahwahnee Hotel awaiting the sunrise. By the time the glowing ball appeared my feet were numb from the bitter cold, not to mention the foot of snow I'd been standing in for close to an hour. The ice glazed tree standing before me took on a ghostly glow as the rising sun backlit its eerie form.
