The feathers of owls are specially shaped to disperse the air currents that flow over them rendering the owl's flight completely silent. This Great Horned Owl, part of the live flight demonstration in the Birds of Prey exhibit at Callaway Gardens, would fly close enough to the audience to brush wingtips against shoulders or even ears. No matter how close it came, however, it was impossible to hear it coming or going.
