- Description: Casting its own glow to the rays of the rising sun. (Amanita jacksonii) This beautiful specimen, photographed at 8:00 a.m., lasted less than two hours. As I returned on the path I had taken into the forest, this less-than-common mushroom had been knocked over and crushed by a much less considerate wanderer.
