This shot was taken probably around 5:30AM - 6AM along the shoreline of Swiftcurrent Lake, right behind the Many Glacier Hotel. There was a low fogbank reaching across the lake, the sun was beginning to climb the cloudless sky behind me, and the almost-full moon was beginning to set behind the mountains in front of me. It was very chilly that morning, even though it was mid-July. There were maybe 3 other photographers out there with me, spaced along the shore. I took numerous shots of this scene, and with almost each shot, the light and colors changed as the sun climbed higher.

In addition to the normal gear of camera, tripod, ND filter, and polarizer, make sure you also have hiking boots and clothing for both warm and cool temps, as the weather can change in an eyeblink up in the mountains, even though it might be high summer.
