Photo Details

  • Title: Sunrise Over Hart Mountain
  • State/Province/Region (required): Wyoming
  • Country (required): United States
  • Nearest Area: Crandall Wyoming
  • Nearest Town: Cody
  • Description: Sunrise over Hart Mountain was taken looking east from the top of Dead Indian Pass. The shot was taken in mid summer with a tripod and my lens was fitted with a Tiffen 0.9 ND filter. As you can see the sunrises in the west can be spectacular. The sun was already well into the sky but the color did not stop. It was truly a moment in time that will not be forgotten.
  • Brief Directions: Head north out of Cody Wyoming on HiWay 120 and then west on 296, Chief Joseph Hiway towards Crandal. After a few miles you will drive through a series of switch backs. Pick a spot near the top and look east.
  • Notes: East Yellowstone and the Beartooth mountains are one of my favorite places to capture images. The scenery is amazing and a dream for an aspiring landscape photographer.
  • Best Season: Summer
  • Gear: Nikon D7000, Tokina 11-16 2.8
