Photo Details

  • Title: Time-Out
  • State/Province/Region (required): New York
  • Country (required): United States
  • Nearest Town: Levittown
  • Description: Picture of a boy running fast and cradling a lacrosse stick on a cloudy summer day. This picture was shot with slow shutter and fill-in-flash techniques not done in photoshop. This picture has a sense of speed, mystery, and movement. The name comes from the saying in sports "time-out" which is used to freeze the clock, where in this picture time is frozen and the sport is captured in a picture.
  • Brief Directions: Shot using a slow shutter and fill in flash to create certain parts crisp and others motion blurred. Settings were: Shutter Speed: 1/30 F-Stop: f22 Lens: 30mm ISO: 200
  • Notes: Take many trials to get the perfect position and make sure you are close enough that the flash will have time to capture certain parts of the images. It is important to also move with the subject and follow them until the picture is fully finished.
  • Best Season: Summer
  • Gear: Canon 40D / Speedlite 430ex
