Photo Details

  • Title: Doorway And Vines
  • State/Province/Region (required): Texas
  • Country (required): United States
  • Nearest Town: Hamilton
  • Description: There are many small communities scattered across Texas that are a shadow of what they once were. Often times there is a historical marker giving the only clue that there was ever anything there at all. There are still a few houses and a church with a dirt road at the site of Lamkin. I stopped to read the history marker. I don't even remember why I turned down the dirt road after that. This old general store was enough to make me stop and take a closer look.
  • Brief Directions: From Hamilton take Highway 36 West. After crossing the Comanche County line it's only about 2 more miles.
  • Notes: This photo was shot during the late afternoon. I would tread lightly when entering an old structure such as this. There was a ton of debris and rusty metal.
  • Best Season: Spring
  • Gear: Nikon D300-18-70mm Nikon Zoom Lens
