Enchanted Rock State Natural Area straddles the Gillespie and Llano County line in Central Texas. The park's namesake is a formation called a batholith. I've always said it looks like a 600 foot tall half a basketball sticking out of the earth. It is a giant playground for kids, adults & photographers. I've been to this place many times and never seem to run out of fresh subject matter to shoot.
There are several smaller versions of enchanted rock in the park. One of these is named Freshman Mountain. I made my way out to this spot mid afternoon one spring day and waited for the sun to dip low on the horizon. This was one of the last shots I took that day looking back toward Enchanted Rock
