  • Country (required): United States
  • Nearest Town: Flagstaff
  • Description: I named this photo Night Fall because it was taken shortly after nightfall and during the season of Fall. I wanted to photograph Locket Meadow at night with the milky way, autumn colors, and a reflection of the stars over a small pond at Locket Meadow. Right after the colors peaked, I read that the draconid meteor shower was going to happen on Oct. 8th. This meteor shower was going to be an unusual one. It was going to happen only in the evening hours instead of early morning. This played out perfectly because the milky way also was only going to line up with the spot where I wanted to take the photo only in the evening hours. My vision then changed in hopes to capture a meteor coming thru the atmosphere along with the other ideas that I wanted in my photo. After setting up and capturing many images, a camper at the campground lit up a large campfire. I thought my evening was over. However, to my amazement the fire became one of the focal points of my photo. I was fortunate to have captured everything I wanted and more in one single exposure including one of four meteors I witnessed that night.
