Photo Details

  • Title: Goodnight God
  • State/Province/Region (required): Oregon
  • Country (required): United States
  • Nearest Town: Bandon
  • Description: Located just off of the Oregon Coast Scenic By-Way, Whiskey Run Beach is known for its gorgeous sunsets, rock hunting, and black sand deposits, which signal that platinum and gold are nearby! With a very long stretch of shoreline, one can almost always find a private slice of this beach! It's also great for bonfires, walking your dogs, horseback riding, or even taking our your four-wheeler! Whiskey Run has a stream that meets up with the ocean at this point. To take this shot, I crawled atop a large piece of driftwood sitting in this stream and pointed towards the giant sun!
  • Brief Directions: If you are on Hwy 101 in Oregon going north, Bandon will be the last town you travel through. From there, the shortest route is to look for the North Bank Rd. turn off. Just past that, there is an area where you can turn to the left. Take that road. From there, you will see a road to your left. Take that road until you hit the stop sign. Do not turn, go straight through the stop sign (after stopping!) and take that road to the very end. Here you will find paradise!
  • Notes: Check the tides... Extreme tides can (rarely) bring the surf clear up to the parking lot. A neat sight to see, but don't get caught off guard out there!
  • Best Season: Summer
  • Gear: Kodak Easy Share M381
