Photo Details

  • Title: The Other Side Of Michigan Avenue
  • State/Province/Region (required): Michigan
  • Country (required): United States
  • Nearest Town: Detroit
  • Description: With so many shots published of late that epitomize the demise of Detroit, I was looking to try and show a different side of the city to contrast with photographs of urban decay and ruined and abandoned buildings. This barn is located on Michigan Avenue, about 10 miles outside of downtown Detroit; the same street that is home to the much-photographed old Michigan Grand Central Train Station and many other formerly grand but, now decrepit buildings.
  • Brief Directions: This shot was taken hand held from the side of the road one late Summer evening. I took a number of different bracketed exposures and put them together to form an HDR image. This was to try and bring out the bellowing cloud formations behind the barn while trying to evoke a serene and dreamy landscape.
  • Best Season: Summer
  • Gear: Nikon D300. 18-200 VR Lens
