Photo Details

  • Title: Smokestacks And Old House
  • State/Province/Region (required): Texas
  • Country (required): United States
  • Nearest Area: Central Texas
  • Nearest Town: LaGrange
  • Description: There is nothing about this shot that represents this area of the State visually. This place is not industrial by nature, it's actually rural. The contrast of the house with the background caught my eye while I was driving. I turned around and got out my gear. The last thing I did before packing up was add a dark ND filter for a long exposure. I thought the smoke coming from the stacks and the windblown trees might give the scene a little something extra.
  • Brief Directions: From Interstate 10 take Highway 71 North to this area of Fayette County.
  • Notes: I grew up shooting these kinds of rural scenes in Indiana when I was a teenager. As I got more serious about my landscape photography I shied away from this type of work. With the advent of digital I have become more open minded and willing to stop and explore anything that catches my eye. I'm really enjoying being spontaneous with my photography again.
  • Gear: Nikon D300-18-70mm Nikon Zoom Lens
