- Description: This is a self portrait that I took while in London on study abroad. I took this near the end of my stay, just a couple of days before I was to fly home. (We were there for a month.) I did not have the best experience while in London. My 'friends' ditched me at every turn so I ended up exploring the city by myself. I am a bit of a loner anyways, but no one wants to spend a month doing everything alone. By the end of the trip (and many tears later) I was in somewhat of a jovial mood one night. It was me, just hanging out in my dorm room and I pulled out my Nikon and had so much fun. I took a lot of photos and got really silly with it, which made me feel really good. This photo is intentionally blurred. I was trying different positions with both myself and the camera. I tried looking at the camera, looking away from the camera. I was trying to capture all the feelings that had plagued me over the last month. I desperately wanted to pour that into these photos. For me it was therapeutic and I added more contrast to them to really try to convey my hurt and loneliness. By the end of my night I was smiling and laughing again--something that I had not done in quite a while.
