- Description: The occasion was a shamanic land blessing. The group gathered around the fire on a dirt shelf that was carved into the steep Los Angeles hillside. Before breaking ground the owners sought a gesture to express gratitude for the land of their future home and to set intentions for their life to be. The shaman affirmed, sang and chanted, in a rising intensity. I circled them in the dark, crawling over rocks and bushes, nearly sliding down the precarious slope. The event was cathartic, profound and beautiful.
