Photo Details

  • Title: Light Speed On Lake Fontana
  • State/Province/Region (required): North Carolina
  • Country (required): United States
  • Nearest Area: Nantahala Gorge
  • Nearest Town: Bryson City
  • Description: Taken from the Great Smokey Mountain Railroad - riding alongside Lake Fontana. Was lucky enough to catch this action shot. f10 / ISO 1600 / 1/400 Sec with Image Stabilization On and in AutoFocus. We had been riding in an enclosed car, but I had stepped out into one of the open cars so got this very clear shot. This shot has not been adjusted for exposure / color saturation, etc... The light was just right to catch this great almost neon green look against the darker green background of the opposite shore in this narrow inlet. The jet boat proceeded to put on a little show for us, doing some rapid moves then speeding off. This shot is as the boat was just starting to pull away from us, already kicking up a nice "rooster tail" and in the ripple effect of its own prior moves.
