Photo Details
- Title: Stars In The Double Arch
- State/Province/Region (required): Utah
- Country (required): United States
- Nearest Area: Arches National Park
- Nearest Town: Moab
- Description: This image was recently captured utilizing the above listed gear. The exposure was 30 seconds in length, ISO 2000, with a small flashlight to illuminate the Double Arch. This is a single image. The larger opening has a span of 148 feet and a height of 104 feet.
- Brief Directions: From Salt Lake City, Utah Take I-15 S 46.9 mi Take exit 258 to merge onto US-6 E toward Price/Manti/US-89 E 5.3 mi Continue straight onto US-6 E/US-89 S Continue to follow US-6 E 123 mi Take the ramp onto I-70 E 23.6 mi Take exit 182 for US-191 S toward Crescent Jct/Moab 0.4 mi Turn right onto US-191 S 26.9 mi Turn left toward Arches Entrance Rd 0.7 mi Continue straight onto Arches Entrance Rd
- Notes: I've read many notes and EXIF usages for astrophotography. Many were layered images. With the Nikon D800, there was no need for layering images or heavy saturation of light. The sensor picked up the stars and the arches with a minimal amount of light. A 2.8 aperture or faster is recommended.
- Best Season: Spring
- Gear: Nikon D800, Nikor, Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8, Gitzo tripod
