• Description: Sandoval County, New Mexico is an excellent area to explore for that out of the way location and also for the surprising amount of fall color that appears here in late October and early November.
• Brief Directions: From the town of San Ysidro take Highway 550 north and watch for fall color in the canyons.
• Notes: This photo was taken at sunrise while in transit to another location. Two friends and I had been driving all night from Texas and I hate to waste a golden light opportunity. We found ourselves in a good place when the sun came up. As soon as it was light enough to see we started looking for opportunities. This was the first place we stopped that morning. I really enjoy picking out slices of the landscape with a telephoto lens. having some great light doesn't hurt either.
