Q: How do I enter?
A: On the competition portal nav bar, click "Submit Images." You'll need to be logged in to your Digital Photo account to enter. If you don't have an account, click here to register for your free account. You may also log-in using your Facebook account through the Connect With Facebook option.

Q: How many photos can I enter?
A: For this contest, we allow up to 5 photos maximum per theme, per person, for a total of 15 photos. Submitting more than 15 photos on this site will disqualify you from the contest.

Q: How do I submit a video?
A: It's simple! First, sign up for a free account at Vimeo.com, and upload your videos to the Vimeo site. Then, simply have your video ID number or video URL handy when entering this competition. During the submission process, you'll see the option to provide your video ID number or URL.

This is an example of a Vimeo video URL: http://vimeo.com/12345678 (The video ID is the number after "vimeo.com/")

Q: What are the size and content parameters for the video entries?
A: Please follow the sizes and standards that Vimeo provides on their site.

Q: How many videos can I enter?
A: For this contest, we allow up to 5 videos maximum per person. Submitting more than 5 videos on this site will disqualify you from the contest.

Q: Can I use YouTube to upload my video?
A: Unfortunately, we can only accept Vimeo video ID numbers or URLs at this time.

Q: Can I pass the word on this competition to my friends, classmates, Facebook/Twitter followers, etc.?

Q: I submitted several photos. Why did only one of them or none of them make it into the gallery?
A: Each person's photos are subject to approval. Once you submit photos, one of our editors approves or disapproves each photo for the online gallery.

Additionally, ensure your original filenames include only alphanumeric characters. Please don't use apostrophes, ampersands or any other character symbol, as doing so may cause errors during uploading.

Q: I'm not a resident of the United States. Can I enter this competition?
A: Unfortunately, this competition is only open to U.S. residents age 18 or older.

Q: Do I have to print or mail in my photos?
A: No. Please upload entries using the online entry form. Mailed submissions will not be accepted.

Q: Can I process my photos using Photoshop or another image-processing program?
A: Yes.

Q: When can I vote for the People's Choice Awards?
A: The voting period for the People's Choice Awards is July 21, 2012, through August 23, 2012.

Q: How do I vote during the People's Choice Award Voting Period?
Step 1: Log in to your DP account or, if you don't yet have an account, register for free.
Step 2: Check out the Finalists Gallery to see which images are eligible for your vote.
(Note: The Finalists Gallery doesn't go live until July 21, 2012.)
Step 3: Vote! Simply click on any photo and rate it using the 5-star scale. Vote for as many photos as you'd like!

Q: When will the finalists/winners be notified?
A: Sometime close to September 2012.

Q: When will the winners be announced?
A: The winning photos will be published in the October 2012 issue of Outdoor Photographer and November 2012 issue of Digital Photo. All winners will be announced online sometime in October.

Q: What are the prizes?
A: Each theme has it's own prizes:

Q: Since this contest is running on both the Outdoor Photographer and Digital Photo websites, can I enter photos/videos to both sites?
A: Yes, but we recommend uploading different sets of photos/videos to each site.

Q: I think someone uploaded an offensive photo or video, or submitted content that belongs to me. What do I do?
A: On the page where you see the photo or video in question, click on the button that says "Report as inappropriate." Then, in the pop-up window, tell us the reason you'd like to report the content and click "Submit." We investigate each report internally and do our best to resolve it as quickly as possible.

Q: When I try to enter online, I get an error message. What's going on?
A: Often, if your first attempt at entering online isn't successful, our system won't let you enter again—it's a way to prevent duplicate submissions. Try clearing your browser's cache and cookies—even restarting your computer—and go to the online entry page again.

Additionally, title your photos with alphanumeric characters only. Please don't use apostrophes, ampersands or any other character symbol, as doing so may cause errors during uploading.
