Photo Details

  • Title: Panic At The Disco
  • State/Province/Region (required): California
  • Country (required): United States
  • Nearest Area: Death Valley National Park
  • Nearest Town: Stovepipe Wells
  • Description: After a terribly frustrating morning of shooting, during which I wasted an epic sunrise with a boring composition, I was walking back to the car when I saw a lone figure on a distant dune. Scrambling up the closest sand pile, I got to the top and in a panicked state, dropped my gear which began rolling down opposite sides of the dune. WIth my camera to my eye, I realized the lens that I needed had just rolled down into the valley, so I sprinted down to retrieve it. In a sweat, I made it back up to the crest in time to fire off 3 hand-held frames before the lone savior descended off the peak into the shadows.
  • Brief Directions: Out of Las Vegas, so south on I 15. Turn west on 160, and take that until it connects with 190. This will bring you to Stovepipe Wells. The dunes are obvious from there.
  • Best Season: Autumn
  • Gear: Canon 5D2, 70-200L f4
