Congratulations to JOHN FRANCO whose image takes top prize in our Second Annual Great Escapes Photo Contest. The photo was taken during a side trip to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area while he was on vacation in Las Vegas, Nevada. Red Rock Canyon is known for its breathtaking sandstone mountain ridges that rise from the Mojave Desert. The ridges are ideal for rock climbing. Franco stopped at an off area to take in the views and captured this scene. He used a polarizing filter to accentuate the color of the rock formation slightly. As the Grand Prize winner, Franco receives a Sigma 18-250mm F/3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM lens, a Gitzo GT2541 Carbon Fiber tripod and GH2780QR head, a Tamrac Aero Speed Pack 85 Dual Access Photo/Laptop Backpack, a PNY 8 GB Hi-Speed Class 6 SDHC memory card, a Duggal 16x20 print of his photo and a LumiQuest ProMax System.
