Photo Details

  • Title: The Summit At Mount Diablo In February
  • State/Province/Region (required): California
  • Country (required): United States
  • Nearest Area: Mount Diablo Summit
  • Nearest Town: Walnut Creek
  • Description: Rarely will we see snow below 1000 feet on the Summit of Mount Diablo here in Contra Costa County. Hiking to the Summit just one week earlier with the sun shinning bright; we were supprised by an over-night coating snow and freezing temperatures. Excited and amazed we ventured to the top just in time to snow covered trees, slushy roads and the fun stuff we all like to play in.
  • Brief Directions: Make your way to Contra Costa and follow Ygnacio Valley Road east turning right onto Oak Grove Road. Turn left onto Northgate Road and continue up to the ranger station, go left at the split onto Summit Road and continue until you reach the top.
  • Notes: On a clear day cyclist love to use the road, give yourself plenty of time to enjoy the scenary.
  • Best Season: Spring
  • Gear: Nikon D90 with the AF-S Nikkor 12-24mm 1:4G ED
