Photo Details
- Title: Marsian Waterscape
- State/Province/Region (required):
- Country (required): Ukraine
- Nearest Area: Fiolent Cape
- Nearest Town: Sevastopol
- Description: This rock with a cross in the Fiolent cape is called St.George's Cliff. The legend says that in 890 several Greeks were captured by a horrible storm on the rock eastwards the Phiolent Cape. Feeling inevitable death, the miserable people started to pray George the Winner asking for protection. A miracle occurred: the storm was immediately over and the image of St. George appeared on the rock. Since then this rock with a cross symbolizes salvation during hard times.
- Brief Directions: 12km strait to the south from the Sevastopol city, one of the biggest cities in Crimea (Ukraine).
- Notes: It's better to visit this place in winter or early spring due to the absense of people. In summer and early autumn this place is usually overcrouded because of this Saint rock and because it has one of the best beaches near the city.
