- Description: This seemingly abandoned child was meandering around the entrance of the Forbidden City in Beijing, China. Although other children of his age were playing happily in the courtyard nearby, he seemed uninterested in engaging them. Parents or any guardians were nowhere to be seen. This photograph attempts to empathize with and understand the underlying emotions at the surface of this young child's forlorn expression.
