If there's one thing I've said a lot in my life, it's this: They're not dolls, they're action figures. Hasbro's G.I. Joe was always my favorite, and one of the saddest moments of my life was the day in seventh grade when my pal Robbie and I realized that we had officially outgrown our toys. Twenty years later that pain is still with me, but I think I've found a way to pretend I'm a G.I. Joe again: Camera Armor. If Cobra Commander had a camera, it would look like this. The idea is these protective rubber wraps fit your camera like a glove, meaning you can keep it ready like a sidearm without worrying that you're compromising on its protection. I can't testify how well it works (yet) but the stuff sure looks cool. If it does works like it says, we will be able to tote around our cameras without obsessing and constantly monitoring our camera, or even being afraid to take it everywhere. Once we are free of concern, we can shoot those difficult or spontaneous shots that sometimes our expensive gear fears keep us from. I know it appeals to the camera geek in me, and I have a feeling it will satisfy my urge to play with action figures, too. Visit www.camerarmor.com.
