Buffalo Tech Ministation Buffalo Tech Ministation 80 GB
A portable hard drive is a wonderful accessory to have. The Buffalo Tech MiniStation 80 GB connects to the computer via a fast USB 2.0 interface. It's shock-resistant, durable and fits in my camera bag or laptop case. When traveling, using the MiniStation as a backup device gives me peace of mind because I can keep images in several places at once—the memory card, my laptop's hard drive, an optical disk and the MiniStation. Sure, it sounds like overkill, but I've never lost /images with this system. Estimated Street Price: $159. Contact: Buffalo Technology,(800) 456-9799, www.buffalotech.com. —CR

Canon HV-10Canon HV-10 Hi-Def Camcorder
Until recently, early-adopter types who wanted to get into HD video capture were faced with a price tag that only moneyed types like Paris Hilton (famous for both her family cash and interesting home movies) could afford. With an estimated street price of $1,299, the Canon HV-10 HDTV camcorder offers full 1080 HD video (1920 x 1080) capture to a much wider audience. The clarity and sharpness of high-definition video is matched with a top-quality 10x zoom lens and optical Image Stabilizer technology. Video is recorded to MiniDV, the popular standard that most camcorders use today. You can also capture 3-megapixel stills to an SD card, and all of this sweet technology is packed into a camcorder that fits in the palm of your hand. Just install the software, plug the marker-size calibration device into the computer, and the calibration process begins. You and your monitor will be on the same color page in no time. Huey continues to make color adjustments based on room lighting. Created by color experts Pantone and GretagMacbeth, the tool works with any CRT, LCD and laptop monitor. List Price: $89.
