Adobe Photoshop CS2
The best got better this year with broader support for 16-bit color, improved RAW image processing and the introduction of Adobe Bridge, a time-saving image management and browser application. Clone, paint and paste elements, and they will automatically match the perspective of the rest of the image with the Vanishing Point tool. CS2 also lets you control multiple layers at once, and select, move, group, transform and warp objects by clicking directly on the canvas. List Price: $599. Corel Paint Shop Pro X
This software rocks because it's full of one-click fixes such as wrinkle removing and teeth whitening, yet still has precision controls for fine-tuning. There's even a learning center that guides you through making alterations step-by-step. Photo tools are grouped by editing tasks, which makes them easy to find and use. List Price: $129. Contact: Corel, (877) OK-COREL, www.corel.com.

Fast memory cards are essential to take full advantage of your camera's capture speed, so we appreciate SanDisk's Extreme III SD card for its read/write speed of 20 MBps. Properly dressed for wherever photography takes you, Extreme III cards undergo temperature, shock and vibration testing to be sure they will hold up in tough conditions. List Price: $140 (1 GB).
