- Description: This was my first photo workshop that I've attended. It was hosted by Chris Sanan in Kuwait (where I currently work and reside). My fiance, Fhia Dejoya (Philippines), was asked to be one of two models for the workshop. The make-up artist was Kenneth Harrion. The theme of the Portraiture workshop was woman wearing a veil. The location of the photoshoot was in a abandon building in Kuwait City early in the afternoon. Only one light source was used, the sun's ray through a hole of the metal rooftop. A 42" reflector was used to redirect the light onto my fiance's face for illumination.
- Notes: I am a US citizen working overseas in Kuwait. I've been in Kuwait since January 2006. My profession here is IT for a contracting company working on a US military base. Just recently, I picked up a camera and started shooting. With no formal photography training, all my skills have been from podcasts, various magazines (including DP magazine), and internet searches. My fiance, Fhia Dejoya, has been very helpful with my newly found skills. She has often been my model for the majority of my photoshoots.
- Brief Directions: Post-process was done with Photoshop CS5. Smoothing of the skin was done with Imagenomic Portraiture. A combination of blend mode of 'Multiply' and Gaussian Blur were used to soften and vignette the surrounding area. Dodge and Burn was used to bring out the veil.
- Gear: Canon EOS 5D Mark II, Canon EF 70-200mm f,/2.8 IS USM II, Photoflex 42" Reflector
