Photo Details
- Title: Descent To Explosion
- State/Province/Region: Montana
- Country: United States
- Nearest Area: Glacier National Park
- Nearest Town: St. Mary's Lake
- Description: Hiking in to Hidden Lake, passing thunderstorms were blocking most of the fading afternoon light. Once we got up to the overlook, we spent much of our time enjoying the mountain goats as it didn't look like the skies would light. Suddenly there was a break in the clouds and the mammatus clouds hovering over Hidden Lake were revealed by the setting sun.
- Brief Directions: Take the Going to the Sun road up to the Logan's Pass Visitor Center. From there, stay on the boardwalk and climb your way up between Clements and Reynolds peak to Hidden Lake. Even in summer, you will be navigating some snow fields, so flip flops may not be the best choice. Once you arrive at Hidden Lake, you will find many places to enjoy the overlook
- Best Season: Summer
- Gear: Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 16-35L, Gitzo 1325 Tripod, Markins M10 Ballhead
