Photo Details
- Title: Dogwood Leaves In Fall
- State/Province/Region: Oregon
- Country: United States
- Nearest Area: Rogue River National Wild & Scenic
- Nearest Town: Prospect
- Notes: The photo was taken on a bright sunny day along a trail through dense evergreen forest that leads to Mill Creek Falls. The background was in full sun; the tree trunks and leaves in deep shade. It was much too contrasty for a normal shot. I decided to try HDR. I was delighted to discover that using HDR created an array of color in the leaves and background that was not apparent in the scene. The photo is by far more beautiful than it actually looked. I will explore this technique in other forest areas with similar lighting conditions.
- Brief Directions: From Medford, Oregon, take the Crater Lake Highway and drive 35 miles east. Turn right at the exit to the little town of Prospect. Continue past the Prospect Historic Hotel for approximately 1/4 mile to the Mill Creek Falls trailhead.
- Best Season: Autumn
- Gear: Canon D5 Mark II, Canon 100-400 IS lens
