Photo Details
- Title: Golden Gate Glow
- State/Province/Region: California
- Country: United States
- Nearest Area: San Francisco Bay Area
- Nearest Town: San Francisco
- Description: The Golden Gate Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Golden Gate, the opening of the San Francisco Bay into the Pacific Ocean. As part of both U.S. Route 101 and California State Route 1, it connects the city of San Francisco on the northern tip of the San Francisco Peninsula to Marin County. The Golden Gate Bridge was the longest suspension bridge span in the world when it was completed in 1937, and has become one of the most internationally recognized symbols of San Francisco.
- Notes: Observing for about an hour before shooting, I noticed a couple of fairly large boats pass under the bridge. My thought was that if a boat or ship would pass through the frame at the right moment, it would create a motion of the water. This in-turn would cause the light reflection of the bridge to move in the water, and thus spreading the glow and reflection out just far enough to be a defining part of the image. Well, about 30 minutes after sunset, it happened. Combined with a 30 second exposure, this was the result.
- Brief Directions: Going south on I-101, take the last exit before the Golden Gate Bridge. Drive a short distance up Conzelman Rd, to the various marked bridge overlooks.
- Gear: Nikon D700 Nikon 18-35mm f3.5 Manfroto Tripod Giottos Ballhead
