I've always been awestruck at the glass like surface of Lake Tahoe. The lake seems to act like a giant mirror reflecting the ambient light through the day. This is especially true at dawn and dusk as the myriad colors in the sky reflect off the placid lake surface. On this fall morning, I was lucky to have a very interesting wave like cloud over Emerald Bay. At the first light of day, the clouds and sky turned into a blazing shade of red and orange. These colors were reflected off the lake providing a painted palette throughout the composition. I used the silhouetted pine trees in the foreground to frame Emerald Bay.
