New Web site Analyzes Data For Camera Comparison

There are many decisions that need to be weighed before buying a new camera. Features such as low-light performance, sensor size, rugged construction, image quality and dynamic range, and other factors that need to be considered before purchasing a camera. There are a lot of different resources available to help you with your decision, including reviews on Outdoor Photographer and other digital imaging Web sites.
DxO Labs launched a free Web site called DxO Mark that compares different camera image sensor data from unprocessed RAW images, which records and measures this data from many of today’s current models (and older cameras), and quantifies them into different criteria so that they can be measured objectively.
The different calculated are ISO sensitivity, signal-to-noise ratio, dynamic range, tonal range, color depth and sensitivity, and metamerism. The DxO Mark site takes a new approach to measure various data that has been collected from different cameras so that you can see how they perform when stacked up against each other.
With over 50 cameras in it current database, you can assess the quality of any camera that captures RAW images, complete with technical graphs and data taken directly from their RAW image capture.
