9 New D-SLRs
Hot 2008 models add high-tech features for less money
![]() |
Sony's lowest-priced D-SLR, with a 18-70mm zoom lens (it actually costs $100 less than Sony's original D-SLR, the A100), the A200 offers a full range of features to suit everyone, from the beginning D-SLR user through the advanced shooter on a budget. Features include a 10.2-megapixel Super HAD CCD image sensor, Sony Bionz Image Processor, Super SteadyShot sensor-shift image stabilization that works with all lenses, eye-start AF (which activates autofocusing when you bring the camera up to your eye), sensor-dust remover, a 2.7-inch LCD monitor, quick and easy operation and more. ISO settings extend to 3200, with High ISO Noise Reduction technology for ISO 1600 and 3200.
There are the usual advanced exposure modes, plus scene-selection modes that optimize shooting of popular subjects such as portraits, landscapes, macro and sports, and you can adjust contrast, saturation and sharpening for any of the Creative Style modes-you can let the camera do everything or you can take control of everything.
Like all Sony D-SLRs, the A200 can use all Sony and Minolta Maxxum A-mount lenses, including Carl Zeiss T* models designed for the cameras.
