The Beauty Of Bees
If you're buried under snow in your corner of the world too, do as I'm doing and spend your downtime looking at great photography on the Internet. Might I suggest you start with this seasonably inappropriate collection of totally amazing photographs of bees? Biologist Same Droege, whose role with the U.S. Geological Survey monitoring and inventorying bees, has turned his plain old documentary job into straight up art. These extreme closeups reveal a bug with a lot more interesting variety than the yellow and black honey bee so many of us normally picture. These creatures are flat out gorgeous—as are his photographs. Read more at DP Review, then visit his Flickr photostream for many more amazing bee images.
